Abstract

Urdu language faces various challenges in typesetting and composition in different scripts.classic literature in urdu is known for its richness, freshness, and diversity,making it a sought-after sujbject for modern typesetting and technological advancements.In this context,Calcata and Lahore hold a significant place in history for their contribution to urdu typography.The establishment of printing houses marked the begening of standardized a typeography with naskh script playing a pivotal role in the early typesetting.while calligraphy and the art of writing flourished,spelling and punctuation remained unaddressed issues.however, over time a new script (nastalleq) emerged from Naskh and Taleeque scripts known for its calligraphic beauty, compectness and space afficiency.Verious forms of this scripts are still in use.Additionally, the influence of the Arabic language introduced Koofi scipt into Urdu typography which is still utilized for Arabic publications in typesetting.Talique scripts holds importance in letter writing and official correspondence. Nastallique typesiting reduced some of the composition challenges. Neverthless, issues persist in terms of uniformity and the highs and lows in the script.Some still critise homophones and that has long standing history. Stressed and unstressed syllables are so complicated in language but it is essential for the right pronouncation. Although Nastaleeque are still challenges in this regard. Modern technology remain quite helpful in this regard. This shall bring developments that promise even more beauty, atteractiveness and ease in the future.
