The writers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, besides poetry and non-fictional prose, have also paid considerable attention to fiction. For instance, Dr. Izhar Ullah Izhar published a short story collection comprising sixteen stories under the title Aakhri Afsana. In addition, he authored two novels titled Dawam and Aakhri Muhabbat .Muhammad Siddiq Akhunzada published short story collections entitled Kachehri Ki Duniya, Kachehri Ki Jhalakiyan, and Kachehri Ki Zindagi. He also wrote novelettes titled Ujrati Qatil, Kachehri Ka Pagal, and Mafroor. Muhammad Arshad Saleem authored a novel titled Shaam-e-Baharan. Besides these, the short stories of Atif Murad have been published in various literary journals. The fiction of all these writers reflects local issues such as terrorism and the social and cultural suffocation of Pashtun society, along with global literary trends. Muhammad Siddiq Akhunzada has drawn the material for his stories from the judicial world, whereas Izhar Ullah Izhar’s works exhibit a blend of romanticism and social realism. This research paper highlights the contributions of the writers of District Charsadda to fiction.
