Abstract

This study explores the modern literary trends emerging in both Elite Literature and Popular Literature in the contemporary literary landscape. Traditionally, Elite Literature has been associated with intellectual depth, artistic excellence, aesthetic sophistication, and critical engagement with social and philosophical issues. In contrast, Popular Literature has focused on mass readership, entertainment, accessibility, and the representation of everyday experiences. However, the distinction between these two literary domains has gradually become less rigid due to the influence of globalization, digital media, technological advancements, and changing reader preferences. The study examines how contemporary literary trends have transformed the thematic, stylistic, and structural dimensions of both forms of literature. Modern concerns such as identity, migration, gender issues, psychological conflicts, environmental consciousness, artificial intelligence, and intercultural interactions have become common subjects in both Elite and Popular Literature. The rise of social media, digital publishing, online reading platforms, and multimedia storytelling has further expanded the reach and influence of literary production. As a result, many contemporary writers combine artistic quality with popular appeal, creating works that transcend traditional literary boundaries. Furthermore, the research highlights the growing interaction between literary elitism and popular culture, demonstrating that both forms of literature contribute significantly to the understanding of contemporary society and human experience. While Elite Literature continues to offer critical and aesthetic insights, Popular Literature plays a vital role in engaging wider audiences and reflecting social realities. The study concludes that modern literary trends have fostered a dynamic relationship between Elite Literature and Popular Literature, making contemporary literature more diverse, inclusive, and relevant to the needs of modern readers.
