Abstract

In 20th, century, two major movements influenced Urdu literature The progressive movement and Halqa-e- Arbab-e-Zauq. Both movements significantly shaped modern Urdu literacy discourse,yet they diverged sharply in their understanding of literature purpose, from and social responsibility during 1930 to 1940. The Article demonstrates that the dialectical engagement between those two movements contributed to the pluralistic evolution of modern Urdu literacy modernism.
