Iqbal’s poetry embodies resistance in a revolutionary and ideological sense. For him, resistance is not merely against colonial powers or social evils, but primarily against intellectual, spiritual, and psychological slavery. He strongly criticizes the blind imitation of Western civilization, the exploitation of capitalism, and the materialistic tendencies of socialism, while presenting the Quranic concept of Tawheed, the philosophy of Khudi (selfhood), and the revival of the Muslim Ummah as the foundation of true resistance. Unlike mere rejection, Iqbal’s resistance is constructive, aiming at a positive reconstruction of society. His tone is passionate, inspirational, and infused with a call to awaken the youth. This makes his resistance poetry more comprehensive, revolutionary, and universal than that of other poets.
