Abstract

Metaphysics is a well-known branch of philosophy that deals with fundamental questions related to existence, reality, and the nature of being. It is broadly categorized into three major areas: Ontology, Cosmology, and Psychology. Ontology explores the nature and existence of God, Cosmology investigates the origin and structure of the universe, and Psychology analyzes the philosophical aspects of the human mind and its influencing factors. These domains collectively shape the metaphysical discourse that has been a subject of philosophical and literary exploration for centuries. Mir Taqi Mir, one of the greatest classical poets of Urdu literature, is renowned for his profound ghazals that encompass deep philosophical and metaphysical reflections. His poetry captures existential dilemmas, the transient nature of life, and the relationship between the soul and the universe. His verses often express ontological concerns about the self, the divine, and the reality of existence, while also reflecting cosmological and psychological insights that explore the mysteries of the universe and the depths of human emotions. This article aims to analyze the metaphysical dimensions of Mir’s ghazals, highlighting the ways in which his poetry embodies philosophical thought. Through a critical examination of his work, this study seeks to uncover how Mir integrates metaphysical themes within the traditional form of Urdu ghazal, making his poetry not only a literary masterpiece but also a profound reflection of philosophical inquiry.
